headed back inland

Saturday morning showed up and it was time to load up and head back home.

So our road trip started…

of course we had to grab an ice cream cone at one little town

coming into the blue ridge mountains

some South Carolina to North Carolina… One more state line to go

Our road trip got interesting about mile marker 17 on Interstate 40. Construction had one lane shut down and all the weekend vacation traffic had to merge. Of course the actual lane closure wasnt until mile marker 7 but since people cant merge it was backed up for 10+ miles! It took us a couple hours just to get the 17 miles to the state line. What a mess that was!

Random shots during the traffic jam

After we got down to one lane we went through a tunnel and saw some neat waterfalls on the rocky sides since it was and had been raining.

We met up with granny and pappy for some pizza just after coming into TN.

Not too long after getting back on the interstate we came to a complete stop. All 3 lanes were shut down due to an accident that was just a little ways ahead of us. So here we sat. We had the CB radio on listening to the truckers around us. It was quite humorous actually. So many people were shutting their cars off, walking along the freeway to check things out, and just hanging out. We sat on the freeway for another couple hours. When we finally got moving we didnt ride to far before realizing we just couldnt make it all the way home so we stopped for the night just a couple hours from home.
