The original plan was to do 2 30min speech sessions a week because last year he seemed to get bored with the full hour. So we were back at speech on Thursday after school. When we got there, Ms Susan introduced us to her supervisor. She had came to visit and sign forms to change the time and such. Well after much more discussion and scheduling issues instead of the 2 30min sessions we will now be doing a 45 min session on Tuesday afternoons after school. This just works out better and so we will see where it leads us.
So anyways… Matt played catch with Ms Susan and said his words and talked up a storm with her while I spoke with Ms Kim. Then Ms Kim wanted Matthew to do a little assessment for her so we can see where he is based on the sounds he has since he has changed so much since the initial evaluation this time last year. Of course here is where he started to show his butt.
He didnt want to sit still. He didnt want to talk to her. He eventually ended up in my lap and half way paying attention. She would show him a picture and ask questions about what he saw. For example, one picture was a monkey holding a banana. When asked what it was matt replies “a monkey with an apple hahahaha” she said no its not an apple and of course he says “yes it is”. Well she could see where this was going so her response after a couple times of this was “its not an apple, its a strawberry”. He looked at her like she was nuts and says in a smart mouth tone “oh no its not, thats a banana”. I wanted to laugh my butt off but I also wanted to beat him for being such a butt.
Another example was on one picture toward the end he knew the routine that she would show him a picture and ask what he saw etc. So she asks what is this, pointing at a wagon and he says “thats a wagon and (pointing at the other things in the picture) thats a shovel and thats some sand”. then he lets out a big sigh as if to say oh come on lady lets get on with it.
Those are just the two that stand out. Trust me, there were others that were just as funny. Ms Susan was about out of her chair trying not to laugh. It was humorous.
And another incident was in him saying the word “prize”. He pronounces it as “lize”. Since the pr sound is tough the idea is to get a partial sounds so maybe say “pize”. Well when well ask him to say that instead he says “i am not talking about pies, i am asking for a lize”. The little turd knows exactly what he wants and just aint going to budge! Oh help us as we get through these preschool years! hahaha
