mule day celebration

Friday we had a fun day in the sun! Matthew, Granny and I left the house early and stopped for breakfast and playtime at Chik-Fil-A before making our way to Columbia to check out the Mule Day Celebration.

Of course we saw some mules!

We also saw tons of crafts and vendor booths. Some really cute stuff!

And like a moth to a flame, Matt found some bouncers! hehehe

We stopped by the Home Depot Kids Workshop tent to try our hand at some wood work. We wanted Matt to pick the helicopter or sail boat but nope, he wanted to build the birdhouse.

somewhere in here is where I hammered my thumb. it hurt like the dickens and an instant blood blister appeared. i wanted so bad to cuss or cry but i held it in! oh the things we do for our kids!

i also seemed to have issue with the second roof piece. turns out i was semi doing it correctly just wasnt wanting to scoot the piece up far enough so it wasnt fitting or looking right. the guys working and helping the kids got a kick out of it and showed me just how it went on there. so much for reading the simple directions! lol

after that experience we needed some lemonade and a funnel cake!

we then stood by the wall (right in the path of the breeze and dust!) and watch some of the mule/wagon teams. Matt took pictures of most all the mules but they are a tad blurry from the dust on the camera! here is a good one of Mr. Bills mules

trying his hand at the big mower.

after making a couple purchases it was time to head back to the boro. Matt fell asleep, we dropped Granny off to ride home with Pappy and then we went to swim lessons. I let Matthew sleep a little longer but before we knew it, it was time to swim.

before lessons he once again played with his friends in the pool

He also made me so mad at one point. he went farther than he was supposed to and instead of coming to me or getting close so I could grab him, he just grins and knows he was too far. oh i was livid. then when his teacher tells the 3 boys to come on over for class the lolly gags around and slowly makes his way over there. i had a nice talk with him after lessons and told him that he will no longer be swimming with his friends if he cant listen to me or unless i am in the pool with him.

showing dad his finished birdhouse. he wants to paint it green and but bells on it!
