Of course Jeff and Matt had to stop by McDonalds on the way!
Then we got to the dam where it was being held, picked up our shirts and race numbers and as we were standing under the shelter to get our stuff together, it started to rain. And it rained and rained and rained. This with lightning thrown in just didn't make for a good time. So we hung out under the shelter for a half hour or so until they officially cancelled the race then we hung out some more while we let the traffic all leave!

So we make our way home. We had to get home to check on Oz. The night before we noticed he had managed to remove a couple of his stitches. We tried to call the vet but didn't get a hold of him and figured we could wait tile morning. Then we clean him up and clean the area and find that all the stitches are gone. And unfortunately his incision isn't closed. So we call the vet Sat when we get home and we decided to not restitch him. We will continue to clean the area multiple times with peroxide an let him heal on his own.
We we napped a bit and watched tv off and on and then it was time for some storms to head our way. the radar was looking pretty nasty so we went to granny and pappys basement.

As the threat of tornadoes died down, we continued watching the news coverage and witnessed the severe flooding that began. Interstates were flooding, vehicles were stranded and in an instant went from driving to floating, and even a school portable floated down the river then down the interstate and it was demolished by the current and car floating through it.
We went upstairs to continue watching the news and get some supper started. While doing this Matthew used his straw to blow things around on the floor! It was hilarious!

The day was filled with more rain, and even more severe flooding in the area. Schools are closed for Monday, roads are still closed in many areas, people have been evacuated, power is out, it is just a total mess. The record 2-day rain fall ever in the history of Nashville. Just in the past 2 days we have received 25% of the average yearly rainfall! And for a place with tons of rivers, that can be a hairy situation.
We watched more news coverage and hung out at the house until time for evening church. Matt got to try out his new umbrella!
The flooding in the area is still a huge threat as the major river downtown, the Cumberland River is currently at 50 ft above flood stage and is only rising! There is no telling what the light of morning will reveal. I intend on making a blog post with various flood pictures to have as a reminder of this historic event.
